PatDav and Will: Movies & Chill (2020)

Patrick Davenport and I work through 100 films on the STATIONHEAD app. We were the first official talk-show on the official SHFM station.
You & Yours Organic Wine (2019)
A radio package I produced for Radio 4’s ‘You and Yours’ programme. This story concerns organic wine rising in the UK and why consumers may want to pay more for the organic label, particularly when organic wine has had a poor reputation in the past.
A later programme also developed my idea into a package regarding labelling on vegan drinks, as well as a package on the safety of dashcams.
Quays News (2018/19)
All radio packages I made during the MA Broadcast Journalism course at the University of Salford aired on Quays News’ radio output.
– This was the first radio show of the MA course. I put myself forward as producer, making editorial decisions on news stories.
The Anatomy of a Bath Mat (2018)
A play I wrote and directed as part of the University of Manchester’s MIFTA season. Through a panel of external judges, the piece won Best Sound and was nominated for Best Music.
Stardew: The Listening Experience (2018)
My final project at The University of Manchester. The soundscape puts you in the shoes of a disgruntled office worker who discovers his late grandfather has handed down a plot of land in Stardew Valley.
“This is an extremely impressive achievement – given the amount of time available (just under three weeks) to adapt, write, direct, design and edit a nearly thirty minute radio play is no mean feat but to do it to such a high standard is an outstanding undertaking.” – Dr David Butler, Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester.
Alice Down the Rabbit Hole (2017)
This audio feature was a group project created during my undergraduate course. At the time, it received the highest mark ever given on the module. BBC drama and feature maker Piers Plowright described the piece as “by far the most interesting and effective pieces” of the feature work produced that year and “beautifully mixed with sound-effects and cunningly structured.”
Fuse FM and The Sound Stage (2015-18)
I was accepted onto the 2017 Fuse FM Committee as Head of Speech and Drama, assigning press releases and hosting a multitude of shows. I created ‘The Sound Stage’ radio show as an opportunity for those interested in the dramatic arts to share, perform, and promote their work.
I interviewed numerous guests, including director Ben Mottershead and producer Judith Chan of the short film ‘Eric and the Barbarian’ featuring Brian Blessed.
‘Eric and the Barbarian’ Interview was nominated for ‘Best Interview’ at UoM’s Societies and Media Awards 2017.
I spoke to each director about their submissions for UoM’s MIFTA season.
